Ticket Stub to the old Cinema Olimpia.
Cinemas came to Nerja at an early period, and have been popular forms of entertainment for decades. Cinema Olimpia was one of many film houses that existed in Nerja, long before the arrival of television and multiplexes. Throughout the years, various national and international productions, ranging from film and TV, have shot on location in Nerja.

The Last Run  /  Fuga Sin Fin  (1971)

Picture

This Richard Fleischer directed film, starring George C. Scott, was filmed exclusively on location in Nerja and its surrounding areas, although in the film Nerja substitutes for a Portuguese fishing village. Many of Nerja's landmarks appear in the film, including the Balcon de Europa, and extensive portions of the old national highway, 'La Carretera de los Caracolillos,' erected during the dictatorship of Primo de Rivera, during the 1920s.

The photo below is the 'Puente Viejo' (Old Bridge) of the former N-340 route, dating from the 1920s. This is the Barranco de Maro, the same ravine where the Aguila Aqueduct is located. The Last Run  features extensive chase scenes through these old highways and bridges. A YouTube clip is embedded below, where the 'Puente Viejo' is featured.
